Veera, beautiful Veera, like it is said in an old Finnish song. Veera was the first cat Minna had after she moved away from her parents home. Minna´s friend got Veera first and Minna was with her when Veera was picked up. Veera was very scary and the only person she liked a lot was Minna. So when Veera was about one year old Veera moved to live with Minna. Veera was born on 28th February at 1992.

Veera was very shy and was afraid of strange people for many many years. At home she has always been the boss. But now when she is older she has changed. She is not shy and scary anymore but always comes to say hello to visitors. Only five years ago she was hiding during the time when anyone else than a family member was around.

Veera sometimes acts like dogs! She knows how to beg food! But she only begs for very few foods. Smoked ham is one of her favourites. She asks for treats and she also uses her claws if asking does not give her the results she hoped for. She just gently pushes the claws towards skin and makes sure that people say "auts!". Then she starts to purr and begs for treats.

Veera is small and fat. She LOVES to eat. And to sleep also. She loves all kind of dry cat food and fish. And she always sleeps in warm places. And soft ones. Nowdays she mostly sleeps. Then she eats a little and goes back to sleep. On the daytime she sleeps in sauna and during the nights on Minna´s pillow. And Veera also wants to go to balcony at least two times daily. She needs to see what is going on there too. If it is cold like it is on wintertime she comes quicky back inside.
  
Veera was quite a hunter when she was younger! She knew how to catch mice very quickly and she was really good at it! So sons of our friends started to call her "Veera the killer". Boys were busy to bury those mice Veera did not want to eat. And then one day boys felt tired of playing undertakers and started to leave the "buffet" to the owl living near summer cottage. She had very easy summer what came to feeding her baby owls. But now when Veera is older she does not hunt much anymore. She mostly sleeps - also at summer cottage. At daytime she sleeps on a little shed and in the nighttime she sleeps inside a house in bed. On Minna´s pillow. Just like at home. :-)

Veera is quite tolerant what comes to dogs. She has found out how she will get her ears and head cleaned easily. She goes to dogs and askes them to lick her and they obey :-) But dogs must stay calm near her otherwise she does not like having them around. She goes away. Our dogs know how to behave when Veera is near and they often sleep next to her. Especially Mira and Ella like to sleep near Veera. She is warm and soft and she does not snore :-)
   

Veera is a real madam. She can act like a queen. She is selfconfident and knows what she wants. And she can ask for that. Usually she gets along well with other animals. Actually there has been only one cat of which Veera did not like  at all. But normally her motto is: "When there is enough food and soft and warm place to sleep in, there is no need to feel stressed. I want to live my own life and I also let others to live theirs." 

Veera had a lot of health problems when she was young. We visited many many times on our own vet plus we also made several visits to special clinics. And all during the first 3 years after we had got Veera. But since that she has been very healthy and we have only needed to clean her teeth and kept vaccinations updated. The only new thing we have noticed lately is that Veera has started to look like an old cat. But she is still healthy even though she is old. And she also sleeps more than she did before. Nowdays she sleeps about 23,5 hours / day! The rest of the time she uses on eating :-)

Veera has a very special coat colour. It has three colours in it. Black, white and "red". She has a perfect little pink nose and wonderful big green eyes. And nowdays she has got more white around her eyes than she did before. So she is getting some "grey hair" into her coat. :-) She has always been fat but nowdays she is even more fat than she used to be. But she is always on good mood. :-)

Veera has several nicknames:: Vespa, Madam, Nopo, Vee, Vartsy, Big-V, Tyttokissa and Dutchess.
